Where to find the serial number on a GT Nomad Bicycle

The serial number is located at the bottom of the bottom bracket shell (on the bottom side of the cylinder between the pedals). This is also the location of the serial number for most bicycles.

If your bike gets a lot of wear and tear like mine, then you may need to wipe away the dirt and road gunk before you can locate the serial number.

This one has been intentionally blurred.

Now that you have the serial number, at the very least, you should take a picture of it. Having a picture of your serial number will aid the authorities in finding your bicycle if it is ever lost or stolen. It also can serve as proof that you were the owner of the bike if they do recover it.

If you want to go a step further, you can register your bicycle at http://www.nationalbikeregistry.com/ there is a minimal fee for registering your bicycle. $10 for 10 years or $25 for 30 years. This will help if your lost bicycle is ever recovered at an auction.

Lastly, if you want to go further still, you can bring your bicycle by your local police station. Many police stations will register your bike in their local registry and may stamp your bike with a special tracking number. Call your local police station ahead of time to find out if this service is offered in your town.
