Where to Watch 4th of July Fireworks Near Boone and Watauga County North Carolina

4th of July Independence Day Firework Display Actual Locations

Tweetsie Railroad - Arguably the best fireworks display in the NC High Country. Parking is approximately $5 to park in the Tweetsie lot. If you don't want to pay the fee, try a few of the other viewing spots in section 2 below.

The Greenway by Boone Optimist Park - The Town of Boone provides a fireworks display that is usually almost as good as Tweetsie's (and sometimes better). Free to the Public. Parking Limited.

Bethel Blast - Located on the west side of Watauga County at the Bethel School, this is a sizable event around 3000 participants that includes a fireworks display. Free to the Public.

Town of Beech Mountain - The town of Beech Mountain and Resort hosts a "Roasting of the Hog" that includes a fireworks display at Beech Mountain Resort. This event is usually hosted on the weekend closest to the 4th of July. Tickets range from $7.50 to $20. Call the Beech Mountain Chamber of Commerce at (828) 387-9283 or (800) 468-5506 for additional details.

Crossnore Independence Day Festival - At Crossnore Town Hall. Fireworks at the conclusion of the festival! Free to the Public.

Jefferson Forth of July Celebration - Fireworks in Ashe County at Ashe County Park - free to the public (donations accepted).

Newland Independance Day Festivities - In nearby Avery County at the Newland Riverwalk. Fireworks on the weekend closest to the 4th of July. Free to the Public.

Blowing Rock 4th of July Festival - Fireworks usually on the weekend closest to the 4th at the Blowing Rock Country Club. Free to the Public

Smaller Events - Several Businesses in the area also host their own fireworks events. These change yearly. For exact details, visit Todd's Calendar or the Mountain Times Calendar of Events.

Other Great Vantage Points to View Fireworks Displays

Tweetsie Railroad Alternative Locations

Thunder Hill Overlook - The Blue Ridge Parkway provides and excellent view of Tweetsie's fireworks at the Thunder Hill Overlook - Milepost 290.3.

Flat Top Tower at Moses Cone Park - This fire tower gives you a decent view of both Tweetsie, Town of Boone and some of the resort area fireworks from a distance. This 3+ mile hike starts at Moses Cone Manor.

The hill behind Mystery Hill - This spot offers a great view of the Tweetsie fireworks but at the expense of the same bumper to bumper traffic at Tweetsie when it's all over.

Across the street from Tweetsie - People have done it for years, but, similar to Mystery Hill,  this one will mire you in traffic.

Town of Boone Alternative Locations

Howard's Knob Park - This Vantage Point gives you a decent view of the Boone fireworks display.

Beech Mountain Alternative Locations

Beech Top Rd or Oz Road on Beech Mountain - These roads offer great vantage points for watching the Beech Mountain fireworks. Leave the car elsewhere and take the hike up, however, as both of these roads are restricted.

Ashe county Alternative Locations

Mt Jefferson Overlook - MP 267 on the Blue Ridge Parkway offers views of Jefferson and the fireworks in the distance.

These are the one's that I know about. If you have any others, please post them in the comments below!

  1. Otherwise great, but about ever 10th time the Dynamic views fail to load custom CSS and most parts of the user interface making it impossible for users to navigate the blog: Blogger Dynamic Views fail to load. The same happened with your blog, too :(

Please help to spread the word so that we get this annoying bug fixed. Thanks!
