Woohoo! After 5 months of hard work and dedication I reached a huge milestone today!
I started on Khan Academy this past July because I wanted to build an Axis and Allies battle simulator and needed to learn more about probability. Oddly enough, I went through all of my HS and college education without really ever delving into the topic.
So when I found out that KA had a whole challenge course available on the topic, I decided to dive right in. Permutations and Combinations were really tough for me at first, but I think I'm finally starting to get the hang of them.
And that was enough for me to get sucked into KA, I went back and listened to the videos for WW1, WW2 and the French Revolution, etc in the background while I was at work.
When I exhausted those, I thought that maybe if I had missed probability and stats, what else was I missing? So I went about spending an hour or two a day dedicated to relearning math. I'm a data analyst/project manager in my early 30's and I have to say that there was a LOT that I forgot about, pretty much all of trig and a good bit of calculus!
So today I reached a huge milestone, Newton and khanmillionaire. But I'm not finished, no, not until I've caught all of those dark blue specks!
So thanks Khan Academy, for providing this expansive wealth of knowledge for free all in one friendly, easy to use site! I highly recommend KA to anyone looking to learn a new topic or someone like me, just looking to mostly freshen up on the vague knowledge that's been stored in that age-old dusty locker in the back corners of your brain!
