After reading
this article by Susan Elkin yesterday in the Independent, I've decided to go on a little experiment of not shampooing my hair for 2 weeks to personally test out the writer's claims. I'm typically an every time I take a shower shampooer, but today I just gave my hair a good, thorough rinse.
I used to have oily hair that necessitated a shampooing almost every day, but over the past few years, my hair has started getting the opposite effect - dry scalp, with flaky dandruff from time to time - so I think less shampooing would be beneficial anyway.
I don't spend much in shampoo each year anyway. Usually a big bottle of
this stuff![](http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=hiwotufo-20&l=as2&o=1&a=B0018PHA6S)
lasts me a solid 4 months, so my hair washing usually costs less than $10 annually unless I accidentally leave a bottle while traveling (or forget about those ridiculous size limits on airplane flights...ugh), so this is more for the health benefit rather than just saving a few bucks.
And for now, so far, so good! My hair is noticeably not as feathery, but it isn't oily either. I'll post the first week's results this Sunday.
