Eclipse BIRT Report Prompt Window not Displaying - Unable to Run Reports

Issue:

For over a week, I've been having an issue where my BIRT Reports prompt screen does not display any information in both the report preview and the View Report screens.

After troubleshooting, it turned out that BIRT would not even allow me to view a report without prompts, but the query results would display when I clicked preview results on the Data Set.

Java Error in Debug Mode:

Running the report in debug mode indicated that it was an error with javaw.exe:

Internet Explorer 11

In addition, I had recently installed Internet Explorer 11 to test and troubleshoot an Adobe PDF error on another user's computer. Installing IE11 turned out to be the reason for the error. Turns out, regardless of what default browser you select in BIRT, it always defaults to IE debug mode.

Solution:

Adding the following two lines of code to the eclipse.ini file resolved the issue for me:

-Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.DefaultType=ie
-Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.IEVersion=7000
